Description
A traditional Arab hood in a light robin's egg blue. The outer hood is soft suede and the (viewer's right) side of it has large, very faded black Arabic lettering. The topknot base is supported by the uptrned flap of leather that once filled the beak slit. The topknot itself consists of four strips of red leather falling loosely from the base. The chin strap is made of similar red leather that is woven through the front of the hood. The braces of the Arab backed hood are natural leather. The inner hood is stitched supple leather of the same light bluish gray as the outside hood. There are no inner markings and the red topknot's inner base is not covered. The accompanying tag reads "Traditional Arab/Persian Gulf Saker, Hood, Beirut Lebanon, Circa 1968--from the Est. of the late Col. J. Young"
